1. 以下は私見ですが、Microformatsは利用者独自の形式を開発しにくく、勝手な方法でやろうとしても名前空間を設定する標準的な方法がなかったため、名前がほかの人の開発したものと衝突しやすい欠点がありました。また、Microdataで記述されたメタデータを読み出すための標準的な方法もありませんでした。こうしたことなどから、Microformatsは普及が進んだとはいえない状況にあります。

    HTML5のMicrodataの仕様を参照すると、これらの欠点を解消し、定義しやすく使いやすいことを目指したのではないかと想像できます。
